The City has a new employee benefit through Summer, a student loan support platform designed to help employees reduce student loan payments, explore repayment and forgiveness options, and put more money back in their pockets. Whether you completed a degree, took a few classes, or never received a diploma, you may still qualify for programs that could lower your monthly payments or help you better manage your loans.

Through Summer, employees have access to:

• One-on-one expert support: Connect with certified student loan advisors via email, chat, or phone. Advisors will keep you informed on policy changes that could affect your loans and help you figure out your best path forward.
• Personalized recommendations: Sync your loans and get a tailored action plan to lower your monthly payments or reduce your total balance.
• Digital enrollment: Summer's team will guide you through applying for federal programs like Income-Driven Repayment (IDR), handle the paperwork, and remind you when it's time to recertify.
• College savings planning: Whether you're planning for a child's education or your own, Summer helps you estimate costs, explore financial aid, and build a savings strategy.
• Loan rehabilitation: If you're in default, Summer can help you get back on track.

The platform is designed to make student loan support more accessible and less stressful. To get started, visit: app.meetsummer.org/cityofminneapolis and create an account.  You should use your city work email address to sign up if you have one. If you do not have a city work email, you should use the email address on file in COMET, the City’s HR system.
